We spent two great weeks in the Mexican town of San Sebastián del Oeste. It is a small settlement in the mountains at analtitude of 1480 meters above the sea level. Cobbled streets, old buildings, a beautiful church on a pretty plaza, tiny shops, colorful restaurants – San Sebastián del Oeste definitely has its own charm!

For us it was a kind of retreat in nature! The house we lived in was unique and absolutely amazing! Surrounded by a garden full of tropical plants and fruit trees – mountain views, and a natural pool with the purest cool water. This is the house of our dreams. We decided that if we were going to settle down somewhere one day – we would build this type of house – from natural materials, made of wood, stone and clay, with huge panoramic windows and greenery around, bright and sunny.

The house in San Sebastian smelled of wood, plants from the garden; the birds were singing and chirping. It was so cozy and harmonious! Xavier and Cristina built thehouse themselves, they furnished and decorated it with love. They were such creative people, talented and inspiring. We were very lucky with people again!

And how have we found such a wonderful retreat? Here is the answer – we’ve found each other on the Housecarers website. This is an international portal where people from all over the world can find someone to look after the house and / or animals while they are away. At any place of the world, for a couple days or for several months, in megalopolises or on practically desert islands – there are offers for all tastes.
It was a fantastic opportunity for us to experience the real Mexican life away from the tourist paths and to relax after a recent march through the continents. Our single duty in San Sebastian was to water the plants in the garden. And we did it with pleasure. It was a kind of morning motion meditation with benefit to the body, to the spirit and to the environment. We enjoyed the time in the beautiful house of Christina and Xavier and even more valuable – we found two new friends in Mexico! Many thanks to the Housecarers team, they made it possible.

Our Mother’s Day in beautiful San Sebastian del Oeste
